Fem Boys From Venus

I used to spend more time on Yahoo than any other website, portal, whathaveyou.

It was mainly the clubs. Mostly it was a waste of time. Becoming friends with http://www.livejournal.com/users/cd332/ more than balanced the waste of time.

He originally responded to a post of mine in the Gay Transvestites club. It would've been not long after I'd come to appreciate crossdressers. It might've been when I was wondering about the correct pronoun to use. I was wondering something, can't remember what. I do remember he pointed me to http://www.geocities.com/deathbychocodile.

Later we were both regulars in Yahoo's Fem Boys From Venus, which in the words of its founder is devoted to "girly boy, androgynous, non-manly and fem males."

There were similarly themed clubs: femguysandbutchguystogether, boyfrienznmalegfs. Unlike the memorably titled youngmenwhobecomehotgirls these clubs were devoted to guys who don't think of themselves as masculine but don't ordinarily crossdress.

I joined those and a whole bunch of them like sexydressedcrossdressers and gaymensmrright. On a rare occaision I'd have a good conversation with someone (I guess this is what I did before I found LiveJournal). But mostly they were dead ends.

Except for Fem Boys From Venus. The name gave me pause. I felt uncomfortable with anything containing the word 'boy' for fear it'd make me look like a chickenhawk. Despising John Gray the 'from Venus' gave me a twinkle of a pause but not as much as 'boy.'

But in my determined quest to find someone to curl up against at night I didn't let much deter me. Otherwise I wouldn't added something like daddyandsonallianceofnc to my list.

In FBFV, http://profiles.yahoo.com/sendy_baby, the club's founder, cd332 and I had a good time writing to each other.

Eventually the three of us drifted away. In my case it was most likely meeting Charles.

But I've checked in from time to time. Prompted by fondness for an old online haunt. People probably feel something similar for a favorite neighborhood bar.

Not long ago Yahoo converted their clubs into eGroups. After Yahoo bought eGroups I joined a bunch. Same motivation, same kind of club as the Yahoo clubs: pansies, gaylimpwristeddigest, Fags_fairies_fruits_and_sissies, sissycafe, SissySeek.

Can't help but feeling like such a list makes me look like a perv. Especially since I'm tailoring the list to eliminate the even more crass sounding. Why I adore and admire the kind of guy I do I can't pretend to understand. The reasons are buried deeply in a part of myself I can't access. But sometimes when I think about it I wish I could split myself into a thousand selves and put my arm around a thousand lonely nelly guys who feel rejected by the gay world.

Whew. Anyway.

Not long ago I dropped back in again. Sendy was looking for co-moderators to help him kill spam. Be it from a can or in the inbox, spam is a hateful thing. So I volunteered.

Wonderfully enough Pristine Waistcoat, Darling Old Maid, Overweight Old Fart aka cd332 is there again as well. I'm not single and looking anymore, my fingers are crossed hoping I never will be. But it is nice to be writing there again.
