North Carolina Lascivious Association Law Unconstitutional

144,000 couples are criminals no more here in North Carolina. This law has been declared a violation of the right to liberty:

The law states, in part: “If any man and woman, not being married to each other, shall lewdly and lasciviously associate, bed and cohabit together, they shall be guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor.”

State Superior Court’s ruling was based partly on the Texas sodomy case. I hope you straight people appreciate what we sodomites do on behalf of your sex lives.

You may be wondering if this law was of any greater import than those mysterious regulations that forbid acts like shooting elephants from buses. A few couples were brought to court because of the law over the last ten years. And the ACLU initiated the case on behalf of a woman who was told to get married or find a new job.

Took us long enough.

Now if only they could fix the “more than 5 unrelated women living in a house together consitituates a brothel law,” the sorority girls at my school would be set.
