Rehearsing evacuating in case of nuclear war makes an impressi0n on a little boy.
I’ve often suspected those elementary school practices trips to the train station were one of the reasons for years I had nightmares of nuclear war. With Mikhail Gorbachev coming to power and the Berlin Wall going down the dreams abated, almost ended.
Last night I dreamt I was on the Seaview the submarine from the old TV show Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. An enemy had launched a nuclear weapon at us and I awoke.
And couldn’t go back to sleep for hours. I felt it would be risky for me to return to sleep. Not that I was afraid of more nightmares. It seemed that I was in some sort of inscrutable danger. Given that I could be the poster child for sleep disorder fresh source of disturbed sleep is very unwelcome.
Being afraid to go back to sleep after waking in the early hours has become a regular problem of late.
Another sign of defective wiring in my subconscious. Problem as yet unknown.
I liked dreaming of Johnny Cash singing about turnip greens and pie better.
