While putting the money in the cash register I noticed someone had written “The South will rise again!” on a bill. Was a few moments before it registered that Abraham Lincoln’s face was on the bill (aside from the $1 bill I forget whose on what). Then I divined that the rectangle with an X in it was an iconic Confederate flag. Durham is one of North Carolina’s most liberal cities. I’ve been getting a kick out of the Trent Lott bashing. I know the next Senate Majority Leader will be equally despicable. Probably slicker and with a carefully screen past. Nowadays you have to get your Republican bashing jollies when you can.
