Yesterday’s visit to Duke’s cardiology clinic didn’t result in anything specific but was very satisfying.
I saw a nurse practitioner instead of an MD. She seemed as good as any doctor I’ve ever seen. And the most able medical explainer ever. I have a slightly more comprehensive understanding of damage I’ve given my heart and twisted my own biology against me.
Our hour’s talk left me satisfied that I’d get treatment for my individual problems and not be (wholly) lumped into some generic type.
She ordered blood work and I see her again in about three weeks. Maybe on my third visit I’ll ask her how many chances out of five she gives me of being alive this time next year.
