I had just discovered my sexuality. Young, in the big city I bought a gay newspaper, The Advocate back when it was a tabloid.

If it wasn’t this photo it was one very near that left me lusting for the first (and perhaps only) time for an adult film star.

That he might be a top didn’t cross my mind. I saw blondness, symmetry, and eyes. Much less did I know of leather and clothing fetishes.

I didn’t order the movie. Or - aside from a bit of wanking - give the actor much thought.

It would be years before I discovered he’d become something of a gay icon.
