GAY REDNECKS: True or False?

Email communication from TheMuscleDude@aol.com:
IS IT TRUE THAT YOU GUYS THAT WORK THERE ARE GAY-REDNECKS???
Gordon my partner and Yance our clerk are heterosexual. I am gay (or something along those lines). Though born in Savannah Georgia of redneck stock I somehow never acquired the vocal or visual qualities of a redneck.
Mr. Dude I imagine was drunk and sought to enliven his evening with a witty and telling email.
What prompted him? Perhaps he had been in the shop and found his treatment dissatisfying.

I was raised among folks most people would call rednecks. But tend to reserve the term for a certain style of self-congratulatory ignorance.

I am a gay redneck. I own a gun. I drive a truck. I own a confederate flag that says “Heritage Not Hate”. If a pundit on TV says we should be pushed back in the closet I don’t call the HRC, I load my shotgun and welcome them to try pushing me anywhere without a fight. I grow my own food and my own eggs and I hunt my own meat. I don’t trust the government. Why should I trust them? I wish gay activists would be more loud and proud, and more open to working class people who can’t afford $500 champange breakfasts. I am a gay redneck. Proud of it.

When the heterosexual majority sees that gay people aren’t all like Will Truman or the guys on Queer as folk it will certainly a step forward.
