This young man was originally Edifying Spectacle's logo (back when it was excitingly named "Richard Evans Lee's website"). I looked at hundreds of images of people reading books. Many were funny and we've used them for ads and bookmarks. But I never found a picture that I liked better. So I surrendered him to be the store's mascot as it were.
I suspect he's surrounded by Walter Pater, Max Beerbohm, Lionel Johnson, Ernest Dowson and of course Wilde.
